1. E-mail
a) Short for electronic mail, the transmission of message over communication network.
b) Some electronic mail system are confined to a single computer system or network, enabling user to send electronic mail anywhere in the world because it is fast, flexible, and reliable.
c) E-mail message are usually encoded in ASCII text. However, you can also send non-text files, such as graphic images and sound files, as attachment sent.
d) E-mail is one of the protocols included with the Transport Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) suite of protocols. A popular protocol for sending email is Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and a popular protocol for receiving it is POP3.

2. News Group
a) A discussion group on the Internet like a forum.
b) Newsgroup are part of the “Usenet” (user network), which is another service, or facility, on the internet.
c) To view and post messages to a newsgroup, you need a news reader, a program that runs on your computer and connects you to a news server on the Internet.
d) The user can be an active of passive user.

3. Video Conferencing
a) Video conferencing uses telecommunications of audio to bring people at different sites together for a meeting.
b) This can be as simple as a conservation between two people in private offices(point-to-point) or involve several sites(multi-point) with more than one person in large rooms at different sites.
c) Besides the audio and visual transmission of meeting activities, video conferencing can be used to share documents, computer-displayed information, and whiteboards.
d) The other components required for a video conferencing system include:
· Video input : video camera or webcam
· Video output : computer monitor, television or projector
· Audio input : microphones
· Audio output : speakers
· Data transfer : analog or digital telephone network, LAN or internet.

4. Download Upload
a) A download involves the receipt of the file copied from a remote network location.
b) An upload involves sending a copy of a file to a remote network location.

5. Games
a) Internet games are those that require a connection to the Internet to play, and is a type of PC games.
b) Computer games with multiplayer apabilities can be refered to as Internet games, as are online only games which can play in browser.
